Red Tail STARE

Finally a day off from being out in the woods so what did I do??? I went back out to find something to take a photo of.

He did not look real happy with me and my camera

When he did finally look the other way I used a very soft crow call to see what he would do.

Hi Roger

Really nice detail - did you use new equipment for these? Both are nicely exposed and tack sharp.

Hi Jim, No on the new equipment I used my Pentax K10D and my BIGMA. I won't be ordering the new stuff until I find out if the focus fix is working on the Canon 1D Mark 3. Thanks for the kind comment about my photos.

Nice takes on my fav bird. In your area the breast colouring is much darker than ours. I took this one today and you can see the differences. If my posting on your subject is bad manners please tell me.

I have no problem with you posting your photo. Interesting they would be different in different parts of the country.

Very nice shots, Roger. They are pretty birds!

Guys, after looking atRed-tailed Hawks and illustrations of them for a while.....there are a lot of variations in plumages and several morphs. And of course, juveniles are different.

I will post some shots of one that is even darker.

Great capture!

I just got a photo of my first Red Tail yesterday...the breast coloring on mine seems similar to the one dwssas shot.
