These were the last pictures I took before my 30D bit the dust. If I can't find a simple solution tomorrow, I'll pick up a 40D and send the 30D in for repair. Fortunately my credit card extended the one year warranty. When it comes back, it will be a backup.

Happy New Year everyone.

Jim

Sorry to hear about that, Jim, I've experienced those sorts of trials and tribulations a whole lot over the past few years with both camera and lenses. I know how it feels the moment it happens and I also know that you'll be able to work it out nicely because you love your photography. Money is secondary in the matter of having a camera to use and I'd probably have a whole lot more "banked" money had I simply quit shooting when the chips were down the first time, second time, third time, etc., but that just wasn't an option. I'm definitely on the losing end in the way of "investment" but I'm on the winning end in the area of keepin' on keepin' on, no matter what.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune but I'm sure you'll enjoy the 40D and for people like us who spend a whole lot of time shooting, well, a second camera is as important to us as to the pros, imo. Now you'll have "two" when your trusty 30D gets all fixed up.

Oh, super photos of that bird. What kind of bird is that :G

However, I have an old digital Rebel, a bit slow but still works. If you'd like to borrow it for awhile rather than pick up the 40D, just send me a note. I'd be more than happy to loan it out to you until your rig gets fixed up.

Cheers

Jim, you did a nice job with these... number 4 is right on!

Normcar - that's a heck of a nice thing to do for Jim. Cheers, Dan

Thanks Norm that is very kind of you. Sorry to take so long to respond to your post but I was skiing at Lake Louise today and finally have a chance to check the computer. I have one more trick up my sleeve - new batteries. I picked one of the new ones up on the way home and I'm going to give it a charge and test it later tonight.

I'll let you know how things worked in the morning.

Cheers.

Jim
