this little fella was flitting around some blackberry bushes, and came far enough out in the open to give me a half decent shot... 40D, 100-400L @ 400mm...

cool shots rocky. looks like the 100-400 lens is work out quite well for you. i like the spot light on the eye of the 1st shot. happy new years dude!

thanks, Hung... yeah, the Canon lens seems to be working well so far. it definitely focuses faster than the Sigma, and the AF is absolutely silent - in AI Servo mode, i can't even tell it's working, except everything stays in focus! i don't see any improvement over the Sigma in image quality, but then, the Sigma has such impressive optics that i'll be happy if the Canon just keeps up!

thanks, Don... yeah, this is about as 'out in the open' as i've seen 'em... and with the light i had, it was a pure stroke of luck!

Lovely bird, Rocky, especially # 2. I guess your red-eye reduction didn't work :lol:. I looked this bird up and found out that it doesn't frequent my neck of the woods - Ontario, which is a darned shame . Cheers, Dan
