These finch spend the summer high in the mountains and come down to the valleys in the winter. They fly around in flocks of hundreds. This was my first chance to get some decent shots.

Beautiful shots Jim. I like the first the best with the pose and the background. I've never seen one of these in our area. Pretty bird...cheers..Don

Cool looking birdJim! #2 iswonderful, great color and contrst. I havn't seen one of these yet... bummer, doesn't look like they make it to the western coastal aea of Oregon :sad:

Handsome birds - they are in the Sierras in California, but don't make it down to the coast here, either. Nice to see these - good captures, Jim.

Fine shots of a unique bird, Jim. Looks like that first one has a little worm resting on it's bill, too, which adds a bit of interest to an already very interesting shot
