Very nice capture wk7leung. How far were you from the bird?

About 10-15m away, I think. The closer, the better in resolution and details. Experience tells that Nikon P5100 is not that sound in focusing when the object being shot is far away andplain in contrast. I think this is equally true for cameras of other makes.

Thanks for viewing and giving comments.

That is one very cool looking bird. Consider me a fan! Well done. Dan

Thanks for viewing and giving comments. 'a fan' ... in Hong Kong, there is a 'Red-whikered Bubul Fan Club' something like that that organizes lots of activities to take photos of this beautiful species.

I think the reach the gears can offer is what that attracts me. Details are far less than yours taken with the prime lens. No matter what gears, what is important is the fun they offer.
