I took a trip to the boreal forrests of northern Minnesota and was able to locate a few species that I just don't see down where I live in central Minnesota.

Mike, a few photos really stand out from all others and this is one of them. If you ever plan on sending a photo off to your favorite wildlife publisher, this is the one. I am speechless at how good this photo is, in all respects. My applause to you.

Great shots Mike!!! That first one is over the top. That species looks like a cross between a Purple finch, goldfinch and grosbeak. The pattern of the feathers on the back really reminded me of golfinches, other than the colour. Great catch!...cheers..Don
