I took these pictures just west of Calgary.The winter is the best time to photograph these finches because they are in the mountain valleys. In the summer they will move up above the tree line to nest.

Thanks everyone. The 500 is a lot of fun - mine hasn't come off the body (other than the 30 D crashing) since I bought it.
