just some shots of a great blue heron from the park this afternoon... 40D, various focal lengths and settings...

swallowing a perch... i'd have caught the whole sequence, but he was half hidden in the reeds, and had the fish almost down before i even saw him!



too close to a redwing nest... the blackbird was buzzing him, landing on his back and pecking him, trying to get the heron to leave...



finally fed up with the redwings' harassment...

Great and timely shot squirl. I have never managed nailing a blackbird in flight.
