Excellent series, Ellen! The first shot is exceptional. That is the most detailed shot of one I have seen and did not know the tail was that long.

Nice shots, Ellen - Number 2 illustrates the flexibility of the neck in these birds. There may be a reason you can get so close to him. He looks like he failed to molt his wing and tail feathers - I don't think I ever saw one so worn and faded; he does notlook like a "thrifty" bird. Does he seem to be normally active, or does he justsit around in the same place all day?
