It has been some time since visiting the place I usually go to for shooting birds.Today, I saw about 5-6junior common kingfishersjostling around in search of little fish. They were really very small, probably smaller than 6 inches forbody length. This one herewas very far away, about 20m away on a branch from the bank where I stood. I had to do a 1/3 crop to make it a bit larger. Focusing is extremely difficult and a slight vibration would have foiled the matter. I got two before this tiny junior flew away. I like this one forthe looking up posture the kingfisher put up.

Nice one Peter. It should be called a junior emerald bird because of its colour. dan

Thanks for viewing and giving comments, Fishguy and Kem. Here is another one I took this morning. The light was dim as this tiny little bird was in the shadow. Another disabling factor is he was really too far away.

I recap this from a previous posting to show the beak of a larger common kingfisher.
