I took delivery on a new Bigma late Friday afternoon, and, as you can imagine, I couldn't wait to get out and play. Saturday morning found me at a local state fish hatchery, where I found a Green Heron hiding in some tall grass.

and a Killdeer poking around the bottom of a drained fish pond

This morning, I went to a very different environment...a complex of tennis courts next to the local airport. An Eastern Bluebird was perched on the fence, waiting for a match that never came (it was in the 90's today and topped out at 106)

On a nearby wire, a scissor-tailed flycatcher

On a utility pole, a Northern Mockingbird

and flying overhead, a red-tailed hawk

All of the shots were taken with the 1.4X teleconverter attached, a fact that didn't work for me on the hawk shot since the lens tends to search a lot, thus I had to switch to MF when I saw the hawk break over a tree line.

I think I'm going to like this toy.
