That reminded me of this story from a few months ago:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/7410340.stm

The fish was recorded flying for 45 seconds!!

Great video!

I only wish they flew that long...
-> The trick was to locate their take-off and then I only got may be a good 10 seconds (and then try to aim and focus with a 500mm) before they dove back in

I"ve seen some long flights (but never that long) - you can see it using its tail on the water's surface to regain momentum.

Great catches NHL - it takes a steady boat to let you even locate one of these (or even a fast flying seabird) in the viewfinder. - I know - I've tried.

It was a steady boat alright on a 14-story cruise ship...
-> The issue was the lowest open deck is still 5 floor up !!!:-):G

Well that last one is just remarkable!!!

You got where he splashed the water and you can even see his reflection in the water too. Amazing, great job!

My mother keeps trying to get me to go on one of the cruises she goes on. I may have to reconsider now!

Thank You! Highly recommended as we did a 3-days pre-cruise in Puerto Rico with lot of rain forest and waterfalls there as well: http://forums.steves-digicams.com/fo...916227#p916227
