While I was out fishing during my vacation I came across an Ospey nest. So I put away the fishing pole and took out the camera and slowly approached the nest by boat. The following series were taken hand held from the boat. Pic 1. Note the remains of a fish in its talons.

You're getting some good captures with your new set up, Dan, and a great area to get them in. I wish they would nest here instead of just pass through.

More like a bombing run - be careful when it is directly overhead!. Great shot.

Thanks Vern. As I was on two weeks vacation at the cottage I had more time than usual to visit the nest. Weekends are pretty useless because of the high volume of pleasure boat traffic on the lake - they create a ton of noise and waves that make shooting from the boat very frustrating. It's much calmer on weekdays. The island that this nest sits onis about 10 X 10 yards with heavy brush below.Consequently, it's impossible to shoot the birds from the island itself - I have to be out enough on the water to get a proper angle. I have more osprey shots to process still and will share in due course. Regards, Dan
