My wife got home early this afternoon and was able to relieve me of my parental duties. I quickly zipped out to SJWS to enjoy at nice quiet sunset. No poopy diapers. No screaming kids. Just me, the birds, and an empty memory card. Lock and load baby! How long has it been since I have posted any bird shots?

1) I have alot of shots of black necked stilts, but this was a unique pose for me. Sometimes patience and persistance pays off.

2)
Lesser Yellowlegs in the reeds. Gotta love that late afternoon light over the ponds.

3)
I have to thank another bird photographer for giving me this shot. He tried to sneak down to the water's edge in the first pond. He scared the whole flock of Avocets. They swooped around the pond and then hopped over the embankment and landed in the next pond. I just happened to be standing on the embankment to catch them flying by. Nice!

4)
Lesser Yellowlegs in flight

5)
A Spotted Towhee. A first for my collection. I followed a flock of 4 of them as they tree hopped down the lane.

Thanks for looking and commenting.

Thanks Colleen. Yes it was nice to get away from the rugrats. It helps me to keep my sanity. LOL. Hopefully I can get out more often on a regular basis.

Thanks Kent. The golden light is beautiful to work with. I wish I could shoot all day in that light.
