Well, this is one bird I've been chasing about for 4 years now, and haven't had any luck until this past w'end. I'm sitting on the couch watching sports on the tube, and this Steller's Jay lands on my balcony raising a ruckus. They are noisy. So I got up and opened the door, and it flew into a nearby tree. So I put a little bird seed onto the railing, went inside, and it flew right back and started eating. Happy little bugger he was!
So today I get home, and there's 3 of them out there having a good yak at each other pecking away at the bird seed. Too funny! Looks like I got me some pets. Anyway, here's some shots I took on Sat and Sun. Lousy light as I face the north, so some are a little noisy, but these are the first Steller's I've shot. Go figure....I run around in the bush for years, never see one, only hear them - and then they come right to my apartment..... :-)........cheers....Don

Great story Don. I've only seen them at the top of the Rogers Pass and a couple of times at Emerald Lake. I still haven't been able to get close. I guess it pays to stay at home some times.

Cheers

Jim
