there were a ton of these little guys up in the hills yesterday, hanging around a trailhead. some of them would even take food from people's hands. they're quite accustomed to being fed, and if people are about, they'll often hop up within a couple of feet and look up expectantly, hoping for some bread crumbs or the like. had the 17-35 on the 40D, so these were shot with the 30D and 100-400 at focal lengths from 210 to 400mm, at various exposures.

Great shots...colour and detail so natural, both of the Jay and the evergreen. I think we used to call them Whiskey Jacks in Canada, but your name is quite correct.
