Not to be confused with the big Sylmar fire in Low Angeles County, This morning in Orange County a new fire started in Santa Ana Canyon near Corona. In a couple of hours the shifting Santa Ana winds blowing down the canyon drove the flames and flying embers about 20 miles to the West hopscotching through Yorba Linda to Brea, South to Anaheim Hills, and North into Chino Hills State Park. Homes are still burning in all these communities. As in all these fires, a lot of the remaining limited wildlife habitat is being destroyed. These are views from my home, some 20 miles to the Southeast, thankfully not in the canyon, but in the flatlands where the winds are not blowing.

A terrible sight Penolta. Seems like everytime the santa ana winds kick up, southern california bursts into flames. Hopefully the firefighters can get the fires out quick. I have similar shots from my front yard the last time we had the Santiago Canyon and Foothill ranch fires.

Haven't they attributed some of these fires to arson?

Last year yes, but not yet this year so far as I have heard, although some investigations are still ongoing.
