Nice catch (for you and the gull). Looks like a mouthful for the gull and big enough to make it worth the effort for the pelican. If that is a tilapia, that might explain why the pelicans fish individually there, as I don't think the tilapia is a schooling fish.

My experience is that AWP fish individually quite a bit, but then I usually observe them at one locale that is a bountiful fishery of good sized fish. They attend this area in numbers approaching 30-40 at times, but mostly fish by themselves, sometimes only with another AWP, even though they congregate in large groups.
