Back to the refuge again today. It was really windy but the sun was out and it was in the high 40's, so not too bad a day. I saw this White-faced Ibis poking around in a slough.
From a distance they look rather drab. They look slate gray. Up close, however, they have quite an iridescence to their feathers. BTW, they only have a white face during breading season. It's a white boarder around a red face. This is typical winter plumage.

they are much prettier than white ibis, which look somewhat bizarre. nice shots.
