I was out at the Sac. National Wildlife Refuge, my second home, and I was waiting for a Bald Eagle in a big willow to take off so I could get some flight shots. While I was trying to outlast the Eagle I turned to see several flights of ducks lifting off the water. I took a series of shots of the lift-off and was surprised by how they looked when I got back home. There is something rather surreal about the shots, I think. They almost look 3-D. I didn't do much post work on them. Cropped them and added a tiny bit of sharpening. The sun was coming from behind them and there was a stiff breeze. They were about 100-125 yards away when I took the pictures. I like the effect, it just wasn't what I expected. I love the fact that there were several different varieties of ducks in the group. Can you find the Pintails?
Thanks for looking,
Steve

All three shots were taking with my Nikon D300 and 200-400mm VR lens at 400mm.

I love the first shot but when I scrolled down to the second I was awed, that is one beautiful shot Steve! I have noticed some of my best shots happen when my original plans don't work.
