A few shots from the weekeds. I've been a very happy photographer (not good, just happy :-)) as I've had the opportunity to be overwhelmed with owls, hawks, and rare occaissional birds.

1. A shot of one of a pair of gret horned owls. It's mate was nowhere to e found. It wasdeep into the tree but very open and dark. taken with 500mm at f/6.3 and 1/25 sec.

2. On the way to shoot a screech owl this Cooper's hawk was sitting in a tree looking for a meal. This hawk sat in the same spot for over 2 hours and never moved except for his head. This was the best angle but, o tail shows

3. Not often do we have the opportunity to see a bird from Eurasia. They do hit the east coast but not usually in a tiny tiny pool. He was totally in love with a mallard and would chase off the mallard drakes. Eurasian (common) teal.

4. A frontal view of the teal shows his spotted chest. It was hard getting shots without trash and junk for a background.

Awesome photos. I would ask how you got so close but I guess 500mm would do it.
