Default bald-eagle fly-by

didn't have the best light or sky for a backdrop, but eagles don't wait for sunny days to do their thing... this one flew by so close, i had to back off the zoom to 200mm to get the shot! 40D, 100-400L @ 200mm, 1/500 @ f/9...

Nice going Rocky!
Great shots. Could just be my monitor but, looks like they could use a touch of contrast adjustment?

yeah, it was a pretty dull day, flat light... i didn't want to jack up the contrast too much, for fear of losing too much detail on the bird...

Hey, I like the background it adds depth. I took the liberty of making a very slight increase in contrast, actually I used the smart fix in PS elements 8 and it made a huge difference. If you want I can post them to show you, but only with your permission.

Very nice captures.

Steve,

Sure, go ahead and put it up! i don't have Elements, i'm still using PS 7.0 (being unemployed for a year now, i don't have the luxury of affording upgrades... ), and while i tried jacking up the contrast a bit, it didn't look as good... i lost too much detail in the shadows. i'd be interested to see how the "smart fix" came out...

Hey Rocky, I did a little tweaking in CS4, it did lose a little detail but, over all I think it looks OK.
BTW, you might like the clear blue skies in Rodgers photos but, the cloudy skies don't detract from your shots at all.

I did a little more on the first shot and lost a little more detail too but I still think it looks good.

I only used a touch of smart fix. Looks like GW and I got similar results. They are fantastic pictures to begin with.
