Default Ybss

Not as aggressive as the Northern Flicker, this Yellow-bellied Sapsucker was chased off several time my the starlings. I came to his aid a couple of times by chasing off the starlings so he could get a little suet.

Nice work Gary! I like the way it shows how he uses his tail for support.

Thanks, GW. I caught him as he was ascending the trunk to get to the suet. Seems he would just get settled in for an nice meal and get swarmed by starlings. At which point, I stepped in and chased 'em off.

Gary - Some great portraits of this fine little bird - he is "paying" you well for all the suet!!

While they are a beautiful bird in the right light, I'm not too fond of starlings.

Yes, he did! I was surprised he came back after I chased of the starlings.

Thanks very much! I found that out over the past few days. Especially when being routed by starlings.
