Default White-faced Ibis

The sky was pretty overcast this morning. I had hoped it was going to be clear and sunny. That didn't happen until 10am. These photos were taken around 8:40am. Still not too bad.

Not bad at all. sometimes the overcast skies help with a more muted light. I find when I try to shot these guys in bright sunlight, I usually get a pretty background with a dark, uninteresting bird. At least you got the colors to show.

Thanks GW. You're right, in bright light they look pretty much black. I guess I should appreciate the flat light this time.

Cheers, Steve

Hey Steve,
I just came across a shot I took last year that I thought I'd share with you.
Its nothing as far as a photo goes but, I kinda liked the was the light played on him. I have yet to get a really good shot of one.

Hey thanks for the different look. You know, you'd never guess they were that colorful just watching a flock of them flying over. But when the light hits 'em right, WOW. I am going to keep have to keep my eye open for a opportunity like that.
Thanks for sharing, very cool.

I just found out another interesting item. The white faced and the glossy Ibis are quite similar to each other. Looking at the photos I've seen so far on the web, its pretty hard to tell them apart so, I can't swear to what the one I posted is. Could be a glossy.

Glossy makes sense. Since your in Florida and White-faced don't range that far east and the Glossy Ibis doesn't range as far west as California I'd say that you pic is likely of a Glossy Ibis. I love the colors though.
