Default Loggerhead Shrike

It is a beautiful day so I went out to see what I could see. This Loggerhead Shrike was very cooperative.

#3 He was flitting off to catch bugs in the air so I pre-focused on the sign that he was returning to and then I looked above the camera at the sign. When I saw him returning I fired off a burst. I got this shot of his plumage as he landed again.

Tough little guys to photograph - Indeed, deceptively tough to photograph. Wonderful job!

Thanks Dave. These guys never seem to stay in one place long enough to get a shot off. At least not for me. Today was a treat.

Good shooting, Steve. Nicely lit against the background. Shrikes have really declined in this area - don't see them much any more.

Thank you both.

Pen, maybe they are moving north. I'm seeing more than I can remember here.

Another amazing bird series from a master! So glad you have the opportunity to see & photograph these, and are willing to share them with the rest of us!
