Default mutant ninja duck or the "ugly duckling grown up"

Can someone identify this critter?? It seems to be a cross between a goose, a duck and a chicken. It is larger than a duck and smaller than a goose. This bird was a loner. Geese would chase after and ducks ignored it. It be real ugly!!!

Unfortunately, I can't identify it. I just skimmed through my "Birds of North America" and I didn't see anything like that.

Sorry.

Interesting bird, that is for sure.

Default Your standard grocery store duck

Dennis,
That is a Muscovey duck. The domesticated duck is usually close to totally white. The wild was dark. They are quite happy to mix it up.... Here is almost totally white from my backyard:

And visit this page at my site for various others:

Very interesting. I looked that up in my bird book and the head is right. They have it as pitch black execept for a little 2-feather white spot on the wing. Interesting that the different version is all white.
