Thanks for continuing the series.

The first photo in particular doesn't have the same clarity, contrast, sharpness as your usual shots (not sure if that's due to especially difficult lighting).

Also there seems quite a bit of noise. What camera body / lens set up are you using? Different to the ordinary (e.g. a lighter travel kit?)

It's the same D300/Bigma outfit which I always carry for travel.

The issue was I didn't have my flash because we were supposed to be heading for the water in the Great Barrier Reefs... and not birdings

The details were all in the shadow areas while I was pointing at the bright sky, it's just luck that they came out at all
