Default Powder puffs

These fluffly little powder puffs are Australasian Grebes [Tachybaptus novahollandiae]. They spend as much, or possible even more, time under water as they do on top, with an uncanny knowledge of when you've just almost got them in focus.

Taken at Dangars Lagoon with the new TCON-17

They're really cute little fellows.

Thank you for viewing.

Cheers

Thank you everyone for commenting - they're just the mostest when it comes to cuteness ... and check out the dinky little tail!

They're fully grown apparently saly, according to our field guide books and this on-line birdfinder http://birdsinbackyards.net/species/...ovaehollandiae

I thought they were chicks and now can't wait to see how tiny (and cute) chicks will be.

Glad you all liked these floating balls of fluff.

Cheers

Thank you cjp87 - that just about makes it unanimous - right up there on the cuteness scale.

Cheers

That face on the top left one is unreal cute. We have a similar one, maybe a bit larger, that pulls the underwater act. Always amazes me when I am at a small pond and the bird goes down and I never see it again.
