Default N. Carollina Bird

Took this on my way through N. Carolina and was wondering what kind of bird it is? There were flocks of them chasing the surf and probing the sand for food, which was a process that never seemed to stop.

A very cool shot, but sorry I don't know what it is....maybe some type of a sandpiper.

What's in a name? It is a Willet - not exactly a sandpiper, but closely related. It has a very distinctive flight pattern, as your picture shows.
