Default Black-fronted dotterel

Last weekend we went back to one of our favourite places, Dangars Lagoon. It was full to overflowing after all the rain we've had in the last two weeks, with next to no larger water-birds. All their resting spots were well under water. What we did find though was a lone Black-fronted Dotterel or Little Plover [Elseyornis melanops] feeding in the water along the edge.

Thanks very much jj & banksy. "All the better to see you with" ....... and scarper away. Rather than flying they run ahead of you, until they feel 'cornered'. Then they take to the air and make a low level flit away.

Glad you liked our shots of this very interesting little bird.

Cheers

Bernice & Mark
