Default Could you pass me a blanket??

I was out looking for dead ones so I could catch some predators in action. All I could find were live ones today. Not a problem really. This little guy, (last spring's calf) was close but not very noticeable and enjoying the first light coming over the peaks in the late morning. -20F when this was taken. The moose are in survival mode from here on out to spring.

Aaaw, he's precious! I hope he makes it to spring. Do they have a good survival rate?

Saly, I'm not really sure what the percentages are. The Matanuska-Susitna Borough has a large moose population. There are probably more killed by train and auto collisions than by predation.

Mugmar, I didn't see the cow around anywhere close to this one. Once they get to this age they'll hang around their mother, but if something happens to her then, of course, they're on their own.
