Default One that got away

Caught this guy out in the open in the middle of the day. Its been a very mild winter here on Lake Erie, probably the mildest winter that I can recall in my 62 years. I have not seen the deer herding up like they do during this period of the year, more then likely its the availibility of food since the ground has been bare the majority of the season. This guy allowed be to move in quite close to take the shot and hung around a bit before exiting into the catails.

Nice shots and I really like the environment that you captured him in. Agree about the winter, live just a little south of you.

Love that first shot! The cat tails make an awesome background (almost looks like bamboo)
The lines are really pleasing to my eye on several levels. also like that you can see his 'bed' that he's standing over

My son is a deer hunter, uses a bow. While I understand the need for "thinning the herd", it pains me to know these beautiful creatures have to die each year. I guess I'm just a "softie".

Great composition & background on the first one. Both are nice and sharp

Thanks for looking....Hawg we all get soft as we age, thats why my bow hangs on the wall these days and I jump at the opportunity to grap the camera....one uses the same tactics but at the end of the day each stll goes their separate ways.

All beautiful shots but the last one of resting deer is really beautiful. Very well camouflaged!

We too are enjoying a very mild season, and an abundance of deer! I am enjoying your great photos of this deer - especially nice lines in #1, and great light on the last one.
