Default Hummer eggs hatched!!

I posted this over on the Panny forum, but I also wanted to share it with you who saw my nest-and-mother shot.

I suspect these babies are 2 to3 days old. I can see 2 tiny beaks peaking out the nest.

That's cool, nice you have a clear view of the nest so you can watch the whole story unfold.

Thats a great spot to shoot from. Im lucky enough to ever see a hummer let alone a nest shot. Consider yourself one lucky SOB.

Wonderful shot. Nice of the bird to nest with such a convenient hole in the tree leaves.

Thanks guys, although the nest is right outside my living room window, I still had to get my ladder out, move it around quietly until I found a clear shot, then stood motionless on the ladder for nearly 30 minutes until the mother felt comfortable enough to come feed!!

That is so neat! I wonder if they imprint on the area and nest in the same tree year after year like some other birds do

Thanks Bil, yes I'm enjoying this so much! I'm not sure about the imprint. This is the first nest a hummer has built in this tree in about 15 years (I planted this tree in our yard, so I should know...). That would be nice if the babies come back.

Very cool capture. We have several hummers visit our feeder, but I hae yet to see one in a nest let alone with hatchlings! Very fetching image!

Thank you Jehan, we also have hummers all around but this is the first nest I've seen in our yard. I will continue to post photos as they grow!
