Default Feeding Time

This Juvenile Bald Eagle has just recently left the nest. I was fortunate enough to be able to spend a day watching her. (female Bald Eagles are much larger than males and this one dwarfs the adult male) She is unable to fish or hunt for herself yet, so has to wait for one of the adults to bring some food.

Here she is thanking Papa for dinner.

Now she can't seem to figure out how to eat the fish and keep her balance at the same time. Papa seems quite amused.

Don't play with your food by Mugmar, on Flickr

Jumping and shaking around to much and suddenly the fish is gone. She seems puzzled as to what happened to her fish and what to do next.

After several minutes, she got the bright idea to fly out of the tree and just eat the fish on the ground.
