I was actually looking for a Scrub Jay which proved ellusive, then this bunting brightened my day.

Would love to see one of those in the wild.

Really nice colors on that bird. Was that taken in Orlando? I have not seen any of those in my neighborhood over in Tampa.

Not Orlando, the other coast. Was taken at the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. While I did Black Point Drive, for smaller birds close in, the Visitor Information Center has a nice boardwalk and trail (plus restrooms and picnic tables).

That was the first time I had seen a Painted Bunting there - but I only go there 3 or 4 times a year.

Sometimes Scub Jays will be there, but two other sites are a special trail elswhere in the Refuge, and amazingly, down the road where pay to enter Canaveral National Seashore will see them along the road near the paystation.
