I think these are really classy looking birds. Vicious hunters though. They are known to impale their prey, small reptiles and insects, on the barbs on barbed wire or on the sharp thorns of a thistle plant. Ouch.

This bird must be vicious since there is an anti-radar air to ground missile named after him. The Shrike missile is made by Texas Instruments for the U.S. Navy. I don't know if it is still in service or not??
