Although these birds are diurnally active, they hunt by sound like owls do - you can see the facial disc in the first two pictures. in the third she is looking for something she heard - good catch and nice series.

Thanks! I learned something reading your reply about the facial disc that they hunt by sound. This harrier was hovering on the hilltop for a long time, I wished I had a longer lens to get a better shot.

Very nice series. It may just be my monitor, but are the wings really that yellowish?

Thanks for the comment! The wings appeared to be yellowish because I was trying to increase the vibrancy and brightness to show the details of a back-lighted picture.
