Default Different postures of a Pied-billed Grebe

Taken at Lake Elizabeth this afternoon of this little Grebe stretching its wings.

Good shots. I've rarely seen that, just a few quick wing flaps. I know they do fly, but I've yet to see one take off. Usually they just dive and come up somewhere else...usually out of camera range.

Thanks, Bob and NHL! I love these little Grebes. they are so cute up close. I didn't have my good lens with me yesterday just the Sigma 18-250 f/3.5-6.3 OS HSM. I traveled light when I took public transit to go to Fremont to meet up with a friend going to the local parks. With just one lens, I got most of my shots covered.The Grebe was swimming about 40 ft. away, this lens was just long enough to get the above pictures. The pictures came out surprisingly good despite all the negative comments from my friends about this lens.
