Colusa is excellent. The viewing platform offers and excellent opportunity for not only IDing but Photographing the birds. It's one of my favorite spots. I was there a few days ago and there are quite a few White-fronted geese along with many Pintails, Shovelers and an assortment of other birds. That is were I took the Night heron shots I posted. Lighting is best for them in the late afternoon.
Just FYI the Sac. refuge is only 20 miles north of Williams up I-5.

Thanks, Steve! While my friend's wife is going to the Casino on a bus tour. My friend and I will drive up north to the Refuge to catch some birds. I will let you know if the trip is a "go". If not, we will go up there in late November.
