Default Closeup pictures from Lake Merritt

Lake Merritt is a good place to take pictures of certain big birds who areused to be closed to people. One can usually get within several feet to them without causing them to fly away. Here is a few examples!

Isn't it fun when you can get close up and capture a nice portrait shot. Nicely done.

Cheers.

Yes, Steve! Even my son was having fun that day. He had never even using a DSLR before and was able to get pretty shots with my Sony A58. This is a good place for novice birder to practice photography.

Thanks, Marcelo! Lake Merritt is one of the earliest wildlife sanctuary in the country. The wildlife has been coming here to an urban setting for a long time and become very much used to seeing a lot of people around them especially the bigger birds like Heron, Pelicans and Egrets. You can usually get as close as a few feet to them.
