Default A Cluster of Monarch Butterflies

The Natural Bridge Butterfly Sanctuary in Santa Cruz is known for its huge number of Monarch Butterflies living in its Eucalyptus forest. This year the stream nearby is dried up because of the drought and cold weather, the butterflies stay up in clusters hanging on the Eucalyptus tree.

Default An injuried Monarch

This is the closest I ever got to a Monarch Butterfly when someone picked up this injured one to show everyone at the Sanctuary.

Thanks, Steve! In a way, it was pretty cool to have a picture of a Monarch to have almost complete wings. Most of the Monarch pictures I took before have damaged wings because of the large number of Scrub Jays around Coyote Hill. I think the Scrub Jays can eat the Monarch and are immune to the poison in the Monarch.

Thanks, Marcelo! I haven't seen anything like it. There were many clusters of Monarchs hanging on the trees. This picture turned out the best because of better lighting than the others.
