Default Backyard visitor- Rufous Hummer

I've been taking a break from Steve's for a little while but recently had this opportunity to catch some shots of a little Rufous hummingbird in the backyard.

Cheers, Steve

Welcome back, Steve! You open with a big bang! The 2 pictures are great shots! How's birding up north in the Sacramento area? A friend and I went to Edmonds WA to attend a birding festival. Sorry to say, it turned out to be a wash. There were very few birds to be seen. It was really odd that the only birds in great numbers are crowds and starlings. The one good thing comes out from this trip is that we make friend with a couple of birders up there.

Thanks, we are at the end of shore bird season, and the fall migration of water fowl is about to begin. Pintails arriving daily and soon other ducks and the White fronted geese ( late Oct, early Nov) and the White geese (Snows and Ross's) will arrive starting early to mid Nov. As always there are an abundance of Red-wing black birds, egrets, GB Heron, Bittern, Double-crested Cormorants, and song birds as well as many others. There is always something to pursue.
