Default spotted towhee

usually these little guys are down in the thickets, "hop-scratching" for snacks among the leaf-litter on the ground, but i caught this handsome fellow sitting on a branch in the open. he was flitting around in the brush with a couple of his friends, bouncing from one perch to another, and paused just long enough for the AF to lock on. this isn't as tack-sharp as a lot of the shots i've been getting with the new lens, but the light was lousy in the spot where he landed, and i didn't have time to bump up the ISO, so this was shot at a good deal slower shutter speed than i'd normally attempt handheld without a brace... 7D, 600mm, 1/125 @ f/8.

I think you did well for such a slow shutter speed on such a big lens. Always love to see Towhees.

thanks, Pitter. this lens has pretty good stabilization, but even so, 1/125 is pretty slow for 600mm!

I got one last April but the lighting was worse than this one and I didn't have the Tamron lens. This picture is good despite under not so optimal lighting.
