Default Rare Eurasian Green-winged teal

The third rare bird in January was this beautiful Eurasian GW teal. This is a subspecies of the common green-winged teal. This guy has been hanging out at the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge for the last several weeks. I sent these photos to the Sac.refuge and they posted them on there Facebook page. So far they have received more than 160,000 views as of two days ago. I thought that was pretty cool. Cheers

There is a common GW teal in the background and you can see that one of the main differences between the two is the vertical white bar on the common is relocated to a horizontal white stripe just under the wing.

wow, Steve, these are incredible! i especially like how you caught the wing colors in #2 and 3! there's one of these Eurasian teals hanging out at a marsh not far from me earlier this winter, but it never got closer than about a hundred yards, so all i could get were documentary shots that showed it was here.
