Default barred owl, 5/13

just a few of the many photos i took today of the barred owls at a nearby park yesterday afternoon... first two are full-frame, uncropped; the last one was purposely shot with a little more room, and cropped for print composition...

Nice series, Rocky. I never get that close to our owls.

thanks, Robert! i usually don't either, but this one seemed unusually calm and unconcerned... perhaps because it and its mate live in the park and are accustomed to people. it was perched on a branch about 10 feet above a boardwalk, and just sat and watched as people, even with dogs, walked under it. i got some shots from less than 20 feet away... a really amazing opportunity!
