Default A cooperative red-breasted merganser

Got some nice shots of a male red-breasted merganser this afternoon... it was very cooperative, floating placidly 35-40 feet offshore while I stood at the water's edge snapping shots. It's rare enough to see the males - for some reason they are much more reclusive, or perhaps, like harriers, much fewer in numbers than the females - but to get to spend a good 10 minutes shooting one from anything less than 50 yards away was a real treat!
