Great photo, Eric, a beauty of a bird in a wonderful scene. Those guys are often shy but always photogenic. Personally I prefer natural light photos and look critically at the flash spot or spots in the eyes of birds, but sometimes flash makes the difference between getting the shot or not. Keep up the good work.

Hummer,

Interesting. You are the first person I've talked with who doesn't like the catch light in the eye. The comment I hear mostly is that they look lifeless without it. What is it about the catch light that bothers you?

It should be said that I'm not really a fan of "flash" but I don't mind "fill flash" which can bring out details but not be the main light.
