I saw a pair of these on top a tree in a local park. They were too far my lens but I was able to get some shots.

One thing I notice is that when this woodpecker was flying, it looked like flying mockingbird to me. Maybe I never seen flying woodpecker before. It would fly, stop in mid air and come back to the same tree. I wish I could get closer for better shot but it was nice watching these guys.

Nice, bobbyz. I've not been in areas where Acorn Woodpeckers live so I've not seen one before and therefore it's really great to see a shot of one of them!

Neat looking woodpecker, not as rugged looking as some of the northern ones, more streamlined it seems. As well, it's difficult to discern the actual size of this bird from the photo. Is it sparrow sized, robin sized, crow sized? Either bobby or Geoff?

Norm, these woodpeckers will be about the same size as the Yellow-Bellied Sapsuckers that you've posted pictures of.

Neat looking bird. Looks like the same woodpecker I was trying to get a shot of last week. Everytime I got in position he would move further up the tree.

They are a pretty bird thanks for sharing this shot.

Well he appeared to be a bit bigger than a robin. But much much smaller than a crow.
