Yes I thought about that, but the feeder was where she was heading and a moment later she landed on that perch. I'm undecided if the feederadds to or detracts from the shot.

Two thoughts here, Puck. One is that the feeder is indeed the destination and an important aspect of the shot. The other is if you want to totally focus on the hummer. In the latter case, crop so that the bird takes up the majority of the frame.

Personally, I like it the way it is because it adds another element to the picture. A shot of just a bird is nice if you're going to put it in a bird identification book, but lacks interest as a photo (IMO).

I was taking shots of an Anna's Hummingbird this morning, and the bright red feeder was dominant
