Interesting that you should mention that last one, Vito, as I noticed the slightlycut-off foot immediately after uploading, but posted anyway to see if anyone would comment. Nice catch! I agree with you that just the face is better so, as you can see, I've changed it above. Thanks.

Hi Norm, I see you have been having lots of fun with your 1DMkII :-)

Great shots with beautiful detail and well-exposed. I didn't get to see the pre-cropped version of the last picture so can't comment on that but the picture that I see is very nice indeed. Seems like you were out looking for more than just the ordinary poses for these ducks.

In the first shot, I think that if you tried for a crop that eliminated the OOF duck in the LR it would be perfect.

Come on - let's see more shots from your vacation and with that 1DMkII!!!

I was hoping that someone would comment on my cutting off the OOF duck's bottom slightly but wasn't expecting a request to totally get rid of him. Poor little duckie, now he's all upset. Seriously, I kept him in because he adds to the effect of "crowd" and "place" but I did think that I cropped the bottom out of him slightly. However, I still think he adds to the photo, but thanks loads for the comment. Between you and Vito, you cover all of my second guesses and reservations in this batch :-)

Well, only you can be the final judge of how to compose the picture based on what your goal was, since you were the photographer and it's your picture.

As a viewer, I used my cheapo method of cropping (moving the Internet Explorer window up/down, left/right) to determine that it pleased me more to see the picture w/o the OOF duck.

norm....you didn't cut off the bottom of the OOF duck, just the reflection....and if you were to crop it out, you'd lose most of the reflection of the duck standing up....

wow....me and goeffs flooding the thread
